The sun shines through the rustling leaves
Throwing shadows around the stream
A man sits lonely pondering his lost dreams
A man sits lonely pondering his lost years
His beard is long and scraggly and white
His clothes all tattered and torn
His face, all dirty and wrinkled
Now running with crooked rivers
Down past his down-turned mouth
He had so much to look forward to:
Wife, kids, and grandchildren
A career which gave him pride
A career which gave him passion
Following the less-than-followed
Going the hard way through life
Struggling even day-to-day
Time just kept moving on
Not stopping for idle souls
The sun sets, darkening the bush floor
The shadows broken up by just pinpricks of light
A man lies lonely pondering his lost dreams
A man lies lonely pondering his lost years
